Doctor Convicted of Sexual Abuse Plans to Appeal his Case

Earl B. Bradley worked as a pediatrician for years, and thousands of parents put their trust in this doctor as he inspected their children and helped to treat their illnesses. Unbeknownst to these parents, Bradley was a pedophile who used every chance he had to rape the young children that came into his office for treatment. According to the USA Today, Bradley has raped 85 girls and one boy in his time as a doctor.

The 59-year-old has allegedly been committing these horrific crimes for over a decade. Bradley was arrested 2 and a half years ago and was declared guilty of 86 accounts of raping a minor. Yet he has insisted on an appeal from his trial. The former doctor wrote a letter to the Delaware Supreme Court saying that his convictions for raping his patients should be tossed out. The Delaware court has agreed to hear Bradley’s arguments but have insisted that he stay away from the court house. Instead, his lawyer will take the case to the state supreme court in his stead and try to prove that Bradley doesn’t deserve life in prison.

Bradley’s letter to the Supreme Court was not a suggestion that he was acting on from his lawyer. Instead, he wrote the letter on his own time and in his own desires. He spells pout his legal criticisms of a state police search that lead to searching his home and finding tapes of his crimes. Bradley had filmed many of his assaults on the children, and once the court had the tapes they brought the case to court with confidence that they would see Bradley thrown in jail.

Yet Bradley insists that the crime was not handled in a civil matter and that his convictions need to be tossed out. At the moment, Bradley faces 14 life prison sentences plus an additional 164 years, guaranteeing that he will spend his life in prison. He is known as one of the worst pedophiles in the United States. Bradley’s defense lawyer did not contest the evidence at the trial, and Bradley has not spoken at any of his court appearances except to say yes or no when asked direct questions.

This letter marks one of the first times that Bradley has spoken on his own. In his handwritten document, Bradley never addresses the videos, doesn’t admit guilty, and doesn’t apologize to victims. Instead, he simple says that the search conducted by law enforcement of his office was invalid and the evidence should be overturned because of it. The prosecuting side did not comment on the letter, but will arrive in court later this month for the hearings. According to Bradley, when police burst into his office in 2009 they were assaulting and violated his privacy rights. He says that the only reason that they had for the search was an “offense to use common sense.”

Parents of the abused children say that they think Bradley’s letter is ridiculous and hope that it won’t be upheld in court. Some lawyers don’t believe that the court will reverse any of their decisions based on Bradley’s letter. The offender also argued that it wasn’t right for the police to look through his medical files without consent of the parents whose children’s medical information was within. The parents say that this is ridiculous and that Bradley has already violated their privacy in a much more devastating way. If you have been sexually abused or otherwise mistreated by a doctor, or suspect that your children have been harmed by their pediatrician, then you need to talk to a medical malpractice attorney today.
