Failure to Diagnose

The failure to diagnose a disease, illness or injury can have disastrous effects. Due to a failure to diagnose, treatment options may become limited and the chance of survival may decrease dramatically. Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases which arise in medical malpractice claims involving a failure to diagnose, as this disease, when untreated, may progress in a short period of time.

When an injury or disease progresses above and beyond what would have occurred had it been properly diagnosed and treated, a patient may have grounds for a medical malpractice claim based on delayed diagnosis, misdiagnosis or a failure to diagnose.
