Corpus Christi Doctor Accused and Punished for Medical Negligence

Recently on Recordstar.com - Dr. Epifano V. Dimazana, a doctor in Corpus Christi, resigned his hospital privileges and was fined $2,000 by the Texas Medical Board this past month.  Dr. Dimazana was accused of medical negligence after he failed to provide the required standard of care.

According to a press release from TMB, the doctor had agreed to an order where he was to obtain 10 hours of continuing medical education credits.  The doctor failed to complete the task within a year time frame and because of that he was facing a $2,000 administrative fine.

The order was issued after Dr. Dimazana resigned his hospital admitting privileges after disciplinary action was taken against him.  Reports indicate that he was disciplined for his, "failure to meet the standard of care, negligent practice, and lack of diligence on two occasions when he was unavailable or did not respond to attempted contacts by hospital staff concerning the admission of patients who had presented at the ER."

The Texas Medical Board gathered for a 2-day meeting in August in which it took disciplinary action against 48 licensed physicians located throughout the state of Texas.
